CPO offers help to rickshaw driver

The Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younus visited the rickshaw driver who had torched his three-wheeler as a protest against highhandedness of traffic cops. CPO commiserated with the driver, Wali Jan, and gave him some cash to get his vehicle repaired.

After the incident surfaced on Tuesday, CPO ordered Rawal SP Rai Mazhar to probe into the matter. During the investigation, it was learnt that neither the police wardens assaulted Jan nor penalised him on traffic violations. Instead, the rickshaw driver had committed the act as he was irked over his financial condition.

After learning this, the CPO visited his house and sympathise with him. The police chief also handed over cash to the driver to get his vehicle fit again.

CPO said that no injustice was found during the investigation on part of the police and the act committed by the disgruntled driver was not appreciable at all. However, on humanitarian basis, the police helped the rickshaw driver so that he could earn a livelihood again in a respected manner.
