ISLAMABAD:

Students at the schools and colleges of the federal capital will now also get education regarding environment-friendly ad sustainable practices. This was decided as the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which regulates all government-operated schools and colleges in the federal capital, and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training signed a letter of understanding on the environmental education programme with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) to educate youth for adopting the more environmentally friendly and sustainable practice. WWF-Pakistan’s Hammad Naqi and FDE Director General (DG) Zia Batool signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Under the agreement, the programme will aim to educate and involve the youth in advocacy workshops and community action projects by focusing on enhancing the individual’s personal and professional capabilities for adopting environment-friendly and sustainable practices. For this purpose, selected students shall be enrolled in Digital ECO Internship Programme (DEIP) until December 2020 to give students hands-on, experiential learning on the appreciation of Nature and Diversity of Natural Habitats.
