Shallwani orders hawkers’ removal from footpaths

Karachi administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani directed relevant officials on Tuesday to remove hawkers and pushcart vendors from footpaths and roads in Saddar and restrict double-lane parking on Abdullah Haroon Road other roads in the area.

Shallwani issued the directives after meeting a delegation of the Karachi Electronics Dealers Association.

The traders apprised the administrator about the issues they faced in Saddar and other areas of the city.

The traders complained that illegal parking on roads, especially in Saddar, was affecting their business, adding that the establishment of inter-city bus terminals near trade centres was also affecting their business.

After issuing orders to resolve the problems being faced by traders, Shallwani stated that legal action would be taken against those who did not comply with the orders.
