18 die in road accidents across Punjab

The age group of the victims showed that 191 victims were under 18 years of age

LAHORE:

At least 18 people died and 960 were wounded in 896 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 602 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 358 victims of minor injuries were treated on the site of accident. Further, analysis shows that 389 adult drivers, 25 underage drivers, 154 pedestrians and 435 passengers were among the victims of these road crashes. The statistics show that 218 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 220 persons, followed by 81 in Faisalabad with 89 victims. As many as 791 males and 187 females were affected by these road crashes. The age group of the victims showed that 191 victims were under 18 years of age, 517 were between the ages of 18 and 40 years and rest of the 270 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age. Moreover, data shows that 789 motorcycles, 109 rickshaws, 65 cars, 25 vans, 11 passenger buses, 30 trucks and 119 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
