LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday extended till September 30 the pre-arrest bails of PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar in a case registered against them on charges of attacking the NAB office in the provincial capital.

Party leader Maryam Nawaz and several lawmakers and workers are nominated in the FIR regarding the attack in which 13 police officials were injured.

A scuffle had taken place between PML-N workers and police officials after the arrival of Maryam Nawaz at the NAB office. The PML-N claimed its workers were injured, while police said their 13 officials were suffered injuries after stones were thrown at each other.

NAB officials lodged the FIR against 188 nominated MNAs, MPAs and workers, including Maryam Nawaz, Safdar, Pervez Rasheed, Rana Sanaullah, Pervez Malik and Javed Latif, and 300 unknown persons for allegedly attacking the office, disrupting the work, injuring 13 police officials and intervening in state matters.

During previous proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel had argued that innocent people were attacked by police officials and then implicated in a false FIR.
