LAHORE:

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the opposition must wait for general elections as the premier would not be blackmailed.

“Pakistan can no longer tolerate politics of division and mayhem,” he stressed.

He expressed these views while talking to Punjab Minister of Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine and other delegates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at Governor House, Lahore on Monday.

The governor said that the elected representatives had taken difficult decisions to steer Pakistan out of crisis.

He warned that if the political opponents pursue their personal interests and spread mayhem in the country, it will not serve any good to the nation. Speaking to delegation, he said the opposition should respect the public mandate and avoid hampering the process of the country’s development.

“The public has given us a five-year mandate that is why it is our democratic and constitutional right to complete our term,” he reminded the opposition. On a question, the governor asserted that the general elections would take place on time and the authorities would not be threatened through protests, “Those who think so are living in a fool’s paradise.”

Ehsaas Program, Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme and Sehat Insaf Card are proof that we are uplifting the underprivileged strata of the population, he highlighted, adding that all promises will be fulfilled as per the party’s manifesto.
