Doctor gets gold medal after a decade
A gold medal recipient, who had been waiting to be conferred her prize, finally received it after a decade but not before the Federal Ombudsperson Tahir Shehbaz intervened in the matter. Dr Aasma Saeed told The Expr ss Tribune that she had been conferred a gold medal by the President in 2010 for her services in the field of science of technology. Despite the official announcement, Dr Saeed said she was neither given the medal nor any kind of certificate. She subsequently approached the relevant officials but her complaints went unheard. The recipient then filed a complaint with the federal ombudsperson. During hearings, the relevant officials assured Dr Saeed that they will give her the medal and certificate within two months but the promise remained unfulfilled. When she approached the ombudsperson again, she was finally granted the medal and certificate recognising her services. Dr Saeed thanked the federal ombudsperson for his efforts.
