ASF official dies of ‘snakebite’
An Airport Security Force official died during treatment on Sunday after a snake reportedly bit him while he was on duty on September 12.
ASI Muhammad Nadeem was said to have bitten by the snake near the Jinnah Terminal runway, following which was rushed to a Civil Aviation Authority Medical Centre, where, after providing first aid, doctors referred him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
The venom had spread throughout Nadeem's body by that time. His condition had been improving but it became unstable suddenly on Sunday, following which he died.
According to airport sources, it is the first time an incident of an official dying due to a snakebite at Jinnah Terminal has been reported. They said that while the chances of his injury being a result of a snakebite were high, his death could also have been a result of a scorpion sting as he later told some of his colleague that he hadn't seen any snakes near him.
