Police officer ‘sexually assaults’ woman during ‘inquiry’ in Gujranwala

Complainant says ASI Mubashir is also threatening to kill his family if any action is taken against him

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to sexual assault by a police official in Gujranwala under the pretext of "inquiry".

According to a first information report (FIR), submitted by a resident of Gujranwala's Aziz Colony, a few youngsters had hurdled verbal abuses towards his wife on some minor issue as she was going out to bring some medicines.

He said that despite calling police helpline 15, a number of men barged into their residence later and tortured his wife and also tore down her clothes.

It was stated in the FIR that a police official visited their residence, saying that ASI Mubashir would arrive shortly for inquiry.

The complainant alleged that Mubashir asked him, his wife and son to leave the room of their residence, sayhing that the ASI had entered a room of their house at around 10pm and left it at 1am.

He also said that Mubashir, as he was leaving the house, said that he has completed the inquiry and would provide the details to his senior official.

According to the FIR, the daughter of the complainant said that the ASI had sexually assaulted her while he was in the room, adding that they had pleaded their case before the SHO as well but instead of helping, he threatened to kill them.

The complainant also said that ASI Mubashir has been harassing his family and threatening to kill them if any action is taken against him.

The Express Tribune tried to contact Gujrwanwala CPO Rai Babar Saeed over the matter but he could not be reached.
