Health department has conducted 1,127,700 tests for novel coronavirus

Covid-19 has claimed one more life in the province, while the number of cases of the disease has exceeded 98,270 after registration of 130 new virus cases.

Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) officials said on Saturday that the total number of deaths caused by the pandemic in the province so far is 2,226. The P&SHD confirmed that 33 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Lahore, 43 in Gujranwala, 12 in Rawalpindi, eight in Nankana Sahib, nine in Sialkot, 10 in Gujrat, one in Mandi Bahauddin, six in Multan, three in Faisalabad, one in Bahawalnagar, two in Bahawalpur, one in Layyah, one in Dera Ghazi Khan and one case was reported in Khanewal district during the last 24 hours.

The health department has conducted 1,127,700 tests for novel coronavirus and 94,756 confirmed patients had recovered altogether in the province. The department has urged citizens to follow the standard operating procedures announced by the government for their protection and cover their faces with masks.

The people should wash their hands with soap several times in a day to protect themselves from Covid -19 and contact phone number 1033 immediately on noticing symptoms of coronavirus, the department’s officials added.
