Professors protest for pay, service structure

The protesters say at least 6,000 educators has no protection of salaries, service structure

Saturday.

The Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PLA) rally started from Gordon College and ended at the Rawalpindi Press Club where the participants staged a protest. A large number of male and female professors and lecturers participated in the rally led by the PLA President Professor Ghulam Murtaza.

The protesters held placards and banners inscribed with demands while they also chanted slogans. Due to the demonstration, the traffic on Murree Road remained disrupted.

The educators said that as many as 6, 000 professors and lecturers in the province, inducted during different periods, had no protection of salaries and service structure.

They contended that after a protest in Lahore, the chief minister had approved a summary in this regard too but the finance department did not implement it. They demanded of the chief minister to ensure implementation on the summary or else they would be forced to spread their protest across the province.
