Tareen fails to appear before FIA CIT
Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Khan Tareen on Saturday did not appear before the Federal Investigation Agency, Lahore’s Combined Investigation Team (CIT) in the sugar mills case despite being used summons due to health concerns.
Tareen did not appear in the Rs15 billion corporate fraud case, but has submitted a reply to the FIA's CIT.
Tareen’s lawyer appeared before the CIT and stated that his client could not come as he was undergoing treatment in London.
In his reply, Tareen said that he was currently undergoing treatment in London and needed adequate time to answer the questions.
Tareen said that time should be given so that “I can answer all the questions with the required documents”.
According to details, during the Sugar Commission investigation, evidence of Tareen committing corporate fraud of Rs15 billion through his own sugar mills came to light on the basis of which the FIA summoned him, however, Tareen did not appear and submitted his reply through his consel.
Now, the answers of Tareen and his son Ali Tareen will be put before the inquiry commission which will decide whether to give time.
Tareen was summoned by the FIA team investigating money laundering in the sugar mills case in Lahore.
Ali Tareen has also been summoned on September 20 (Sunday).
