ISLAMABAD:

As many as eight personnel of the Islamabad Police have been sacked for supporting organised gangs who are involved in forcing children and women to beg on the streets of the federal capital.

The officers were fired by the Islamabad Police Inspector General (IGP) Aamer Zulfiqar Khan, a police spokesperson said on Thursday, adding that cases have also been registered against them.

The suspects have been sent to jail. The sacked cops include an ASI, two head constables and five constables. During interrogation, the alms-seekers disclosed the involvement of police officials in the illegal practice. IGP Aamir said that all those involved will face strict action.
