Water commission seals three tube wells
The Judicial Water and Environment Commission has saved 700,000 gallons of drinking water from wastage by sealing three tube wells.
This was revealed in a ‘compliance follow-up report’ of the commission headed by Chairman Justice (retd) Ali Akbar Qureshi. The commission’s focal person Advocate Syed Kamal Haider submitted the report before Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Karim who was hearing a matter regarding protection of environment as well as underground drinking water.
The report stated that an excessive two cusec tube well of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, a two cusec tube well of Race Course Park and a 0.5 cusec tube well of Lawrence Garden were sealed.

To control smog, the commission is taking all legal actions against factories spreading pollution through smoke. The report added that the implementation of zigzag technology was being ensured in all brick kilns.
As many as 17 water channels linked with Lahore Canal have been reopened to provide water to Race Course Park, Jinnah Garden and parks of Governor House. Canal water is also being provided to the State Guest House, Aitcheson College and FC College. The Mental Hospital, Model Town Park, Punjab University and Jallo Park are also being supplied canal water.
