RAWALPINDI:

Two people in a pick-up truck died when their vehicle rammed into a tractor-trolley parked along Chak Beli Road in the precincts of Chauntra police station on Wednesday. The victims, 21-year-old Muhammad Waheed and 22-year-old Waseem Shehzad, were hauling chicken in cages. The driver, probably, did not see the tractor-trolley parked near Biyal Stop on Chak Beli Road and drove right into it. Both young men died on the spot. The crash was so severe that the truck cabin was reduced to mesh of crumpled metal, Rescue 1122 official said adding that they had to use electric grinders to cut through the carnage and get the bodies out. Meanwhile, locals told The Express Tribune that rescue teams had to wait for the police to reach the site so as to move the bodies to the hospital after completing legal formalities. However, police came late. On the late arrival of the police, Saddar SP Ziauddin told that the Rescue 1122 teams usually rush to the site on an accident call.
