Action against fake twitter accounts
Police have launched action against operators and handlers of fake twitter accounts of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani, thus contributing to dissemination of wrong information to the public. As per directions of Punjab IGP, Punjab DIG Operations Sohail Akhtar Sukhera sent a letter to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing in which two fake accounts had been identified for spreading false news and it demanded the closure of the said accounts immediately. As per details , the letter requested that PTA and FIA, despite closure of these fake accounts, should take legal action against handlers of these fake accounts so that process of dissemination of wrong news on media impersonating the IGP could be halted.
