Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited family of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid, who was martyred during a terrorist attack in North Waziristan earlier this month.

“General Qamar Javed Bajwa, #COAS, visited family of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Slehria Shaheed in Rawalpindi today,” military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a tweet on Tuesday night.

According to the statement, the army chief prayed for the departed soul and offered Fateha.

General Qamar acknowledged resolve of shaheed’s [martyr] family and paid tribute to the brave officer for laying life in the line of duty while defending the motherland.

“No threat can deter resolve of a nation which is united, resilient and honours its heroes,” the ISPR quoted the army chief as saying.

On September 3, Lt Nasir and two soldiers were martyred and four others sustained injuries when they were targeted by terrorists while providing protection to road construction teams working in Ghariom sector on Road Shaga-Nishpa in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's tribal district.

They embraced martyrdom as a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) exploded which was planted by the terrorists.
