MoU signed for wheelchair distribution

70 per cent cost of the wheelchair production would be borne by the Punjab Baitul Maal

Punjab Baitul Maal and Milestone Society for Special Persons on Monday signed an MoU to provide customised wheelchairs to needy persons with special needs in the province. Chairman Punjab Baitul Maal Malik Muhammad Azam and President Milestone Society for Special Persons Shafiqur Rehman signed the MoU in a ceremony. People from different walks of life attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Malik Muhammad Azam said in the first phase free customised wheelchairs would be distributed among needy persons in 10 selected districts of Punjab and later the project would be extended to other districts. He also said the provision of wheelchairs to the needy persons would help them live an independent life. He said he was impressed by the idea and appreciated the services for mainstreaming of people with disabilities. He said 70 per cent cost of the wheelchair production would be borne by the Punjab Baitul Maal, while the remaining 30 per cent would be contributed by the society.
