An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued on Monday directives to block the CNICs of the accused on the run in the Naqeebullah murder case.

ATC-3 was hearing the case at Central Jail Karachi, where the accused former Malir SSP Rao Anwar, DSP Qamar and others appeared before the court.

The court expressed annoyance at the investigation officer (IO) for failing to present the case property despite court orders.

The IO responded that the bloodstained clothes of four deceased, including Naqeebullah, had been sent to Lahore for forensic analysis and had not yet been returned.

Police officials presented a report about the accused on the run, stating that they could not yet be arrested despite raids conducted for the purpose.

When the court inquired if the CNICs of the accused on the run had been blocked, the officials replied this had not yet been done.

The court adjourned the hearing till October 1, directing the police to block their CNICs immediately and arrest them as soon as possible.
