RAWALPINDI:

A conference of the development authorities of nine major cities of Punjab concurred that the private housing scheme rules devised in 2010 should be reviewed.

The conference of the director generals of the development authorities hosted by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) further decided to frame uniform housing regulations.

Punjab Housing Minister Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed addressing the moot said a committee of three DGs and three chairmen of development authorities and a representative of the housing ministry should be formed to propose amendments in housing laws.

He said that water charges should be increased to bring water and sanitation agencies out of losses.

The conference reviewed a wide range of issues related to the housing and development sector of the province.

Later talking to the media the minister said that Lahore capital city police officer's statement about the motorway incident further damaged image of the police and strengthened a negative perspective against the police officers in public.

Though the CCPO apologised for his statement, he should have been the first to initiate a probe into the incident, Rasheed said.
