Complainant says victim had asked suspects ‘why are you sitting in front of my house’

ISLAMABAD:

Armed men shot dead a man and injured his cousin for simply asking, “why are you sitting in front my house?”

The family and friends of the victim, Sher Zaman, a resident of Burma Colony, blocked the Islamabad Highway near Faizabad demanding action against police for not arresting the suspects.

They said that Zaman had been killed in front of many people and they had made calls to the Khanna police station but the police did not show up, while the suspects kept the neighbourhood hostage by repeated aerial firing.

They dispersed only on assurance of police high-ups of invstigation o merit.

Registering the FIR, injured Mairaj told the police that he was going along with his cousin, Zaman, towards latter’s house in Burma Town. They saw two brothers, Umar and Waqas Munna and some other youngsters sitting exactly outside their house.

The victims asked the suspects why they were sitting there which infuriated them, the brothers came forward and told the victims to wait a few moments and let them return shortly to be taught a lesson.

Later, the brothers returned on a jeep with five accomplices and others on a red motorcycle ¬ all of them were armed.

“Waqas and Umar opened fire at Zaman killing him on the spot and shot me later, leaving me injured,” Mairaj stated. The suspects then rode towards Sheesha Mosque and continued aerial firing on the way which spread fear in the area.
