ICAP grants RDAI status to NUST
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan has awarded the National University Of Science and Technology (NUST) Business School the Relevant Degree Awarding Institute (RDAI) status.
The certificate will allow students of NUST’s business school to appear for only two gateway exams while pursuing chartered accountancy instead of five papers before starting professional training and appearing for third level papers.
The certificate was awarded to NUST by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) President ICAP Khalilullah Shaikh on Friday during a ceremony where Shaikh presented the certificate to NUST Rector Lt Gen (retired) Naweed Zaman at the university’s main campus.

Based on the graduates’ performance, evaluated through independent auditors, ICAP has upgraded the university’s status to RDAI. This makes NUST the only such business institution in the country’s northern region with the RDAI status and the second in the country overall.
This will not only help NUST final-year students to start professional training immediately after graduation but will also benefit ICAP in terms of having students of chartered accountancy.
In 2014, NUST and ICAP had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which students of the varsity were exempted from eight papers and were required to appear for five papers before starting professional training and appearing for the third-level papers.
