Multan Commissioner Javed Akhtar Mahmood ordered to launch a tree plantation drive on a large scale in the city. He issued the direction while chairing a meeting at his office on Wednesday. The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to start plantation especially in and around educational and health institutions through adopting specific measures and mechanism. He tasked the DCs of the districts concerned to supervise the drive being implemented by the incumbent government. He directed Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) officials to improve beautification of different intersections held across the city sharply. “There was a need to adopt a special mechanism of protecting trees from harsh weather and any sort of mistreatment,” he remarked.
