898 injured in road accidents

Statistics show that 207 RTCs were reported in Lahore

LAHORE:

At least two people were killed whereas 898 others were injured in 837 Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of the total injured, 525 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas 373 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site. The majority, around 68%, involved motorcycles.

Furthermore, the analysis showed that 372 drivers, 29 underage drivers, 126 pedestrians, and 402 passengers were among the victims of these RTCs. The statistics show that 207 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 208 persons, placing the provincial capital at the top of the list, followed by 68 RTCs in Multan with 77 victims and Faisalabad at third with 65 RTCs and 76 victims.

The details further revealed that 900 victims were affected by RTCs including 743 male victims & 157 victims, while the age group of the victims showed that 176 victims were under 18 years of age, 503 were between 18 to 40 years and rest of the 221 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age. According to the data, 731 motorcycles, 115 auto rickshaws, 77 motorcars, 27 vans, seven passenger buses, 27 trucks and 96 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid accidents.
