Four alleged criminals killed in police encounter
At least four people, including two suspects who strangled a 14-year-old orphan boy after sodomising him, were killed in a police encounter in Faisalabad.
Police seized the bodies of the four deceased and shifted them to the hospital for postmortem.
Police registered a case against the robbers who were killed and escaped under various provisions including a double murder and attempted murder. Police handed over the bodies to their families.
Police said the two suspects were involved in sexual abuse of women and minors. The suspects were wanted in more than 40 cases in different districts including Faisalabad.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, police were taking the accused Sajjad alias Dholaki and Allah Dutta in a vehicle to identify the whereabouts of their other accomplices. Meanwhile, eight armed men on motorcycles opened fire on a police vehicle near Khanuana bypass, freed the suspects and fled. In exchange of fire Sajjad alias, Dholaki and Dutta were killed on the spot. Khalid Hussain, a resident of Chak No 389 GB Samundari and Abid Hussain, a resident of Chak No 121 JB Ghokhowal also succumbed to their injuries.
Their comrades took advantage of the darkness to escape after the encounter with police. As soon as the police encounter was reported, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot. They transported the bodies of the four accused in a government vehicle to Allied Hospital. Police seized the motorcycles and weapons of the assailants who fled the scene.
