The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has hinted at summoning Prime Minister Imran Khan to the court if the interior minister fails to satisfy them on the recovery of missing persons.
The court has summoned the Interior Minister Aijaz Shah and Interior Secretary in the next hearing.
A single-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the case related to a kidnapping of a citizen named Abdul Quddus on Monday.
Expressing anger, the court stated that the government has failed in protecting the citizens, the justice said that kidnappings were being done in vehicles with green registration plates. The court appointed the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Javed Khan as amicus curiae. Justice Kiyani said: “inform the AGP that the matters wouldn’t be resolved by closing the eyes.”
No action against oil marketing companies yet, IHC told
He said that the Islamabad police had failed too. “Shall we write to the Sindh Police for investigating the case?” he questioned.
Investigation SP Malik Naeem informed the court that he was heading the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe into cases of 50 mission persons.
Justice Kiyani stated that the police, in its report, did not write against members of any sensitive agency nor declare any of them as a suspect in the case.
The court summoned the Interior Minister Aijaz Shah and Interior Secretary in the next hearing. Justice Kiyani commented that they would call the Prime Minister if the minister failed to satisfy them.
