LDA suspends two arrested officers

NAB arrested officials for alleged embezzlement of public money

Lahore Development Authority (LDA), on Monday, suspended Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan and LDA Director Engineering Asrar Saeed after the two officers had been separately arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last week.

LDA Director General Ahmad Aziz Tarar issued their suspension order. Both officers were arrested by the anti-graft body over embezzlement of public money and corruption in development projects.

Meanwhile, the authority had further strengthened the commercialisation fee recovery drive against defaulters to generate resources for development of infrastructure in the city.

It conducted a grand operation against the non-payers of commercialisation fees in different areas of the city and sealed 87 buildings. The authority had estimated to collect Rs400 million dues from these defaulters, which will be spent for improving the infrastructure of the city.

These buildings were sealed in Shadman, Shah Jamal, Jail Road, New Muslim Town, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Gulberg, Quaid-e-Azam Town, Allama Iqbal Town and controlled area of Multan Road.
