KARACHI:

Many districts of Sindh were devastated by the floods, and the premier should have visited other areas of the province instead of just Karachi, said Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo on Monday.

Agriculture in Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Umerkot, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad and Kachho was badly affected, with cotton, chilli and tomato crops, besides others, completely destroyed, said Rahoo. Sugarcane, bananas and other orchards were also severely damaged, he added.

However, these districts did not receive the attention of the Centre, the minister opined, adding that Prime Minister Imran should have announced a relief package for those affected in other districts of Sindh too.

According to Rahoo, the farmers were awaiting the premier's support. "The Sindh government has always helped the farmers and will continue to do so regardless of the Centre's response," he said.
