Container catches fire at port
Three days after a deadly blaze erupted at an oil terminal in Keamari, another fire broke out in a container placed at the South Asia Pakistan Terminal on Sunday. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. Six fire tenders of the Karachi Port Trust arrived at the spot shortly after being informed about the fire, extinguishing the flames within minutes. “It was an ordinary fire incident in the examination area,” said a South Asia Pakistan Terminal spokesperson, adding that due to the dire-fighters’ prompt action, operations at the terminal were not affected. He further stated that while they were still ascertaining the damage caused by the fire, the initial inspection suggested a minor loss. On Thursday, an oil terminal had caught fire, leading to the death of four people and leaving four others injured.
