Rescue 1122 arranges plantation drive

LAHORE:

Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 launched a campaign for planting of 1,500 indigenous trees on both sides and the greenbelt of the motorway in front of the Emergency Services Academy Thokar Niaz Baig. DG Rescue Punjab Rizwan Naseer along with Registrar Academy Dr Farhan Khalid, Head of Safety Muhammad Ahsan, Head of Information Deeba Shahnaz, instructors of the academy and rescue cadets participated in the plantation campaign and planted 1,500 plants in one minute to improve the environment and beautification of the city. While speaking on the occasion, he said, “The trees are an integral part of our lives and considered a symbol of life, while rescuers are known as life saviors in Pakistan, so it is too important to provide a healthy environment to cadets.” Dr Naseer said the tree cover of the total landmass of the country is about 2%, which should be 25% as per international standards.
