K-P CM visits flood-hit areas of Chitral
The provincial chief executive on Saturday visited the flood-hit areas of Upper Chitral and Lower Chitral districts.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood during the day-long visit to flood-hit areas including Reshun and Golain Gol of Chitral assessed the damages caused by recent heavy rainfall and subsequent floods. He also reviewed the rehabilitation activities being carried out by relevant departments.
The chief minister also distributed financial assistance cheques among the victims of floods.
CM Mahmood said that a comprehensive plan has been formulated for relief and rehabilitation in the flood-hit areas of the district. The provincial government would soon announce a relief package for the calamity-hit area, he informed.
The chief minister directed for the installation of a steel access bridge at Reshun by Sept 9. He assured that rehabilitation work on roads, water supply schemes, irrigation channels, and other installations destroyed by recent floods would be completed at the earliest.
The chief minister also announced to visit flood-hit areas in Tor Ghar, Shangla districts.
CM Mahmood was informed that food items and non-food items had been distributed among the people affected by floods.
The chief minister was also told that the Chitral- Booni- Mastooj road has been federalised. He was also briefed about the estimated cost and restoration plan of damaged roads, bridges, water supply schemes, construction of embankments along the river, irrigation channels and protection walls.
