Tennis: PTF wants to host Fed Cup
PTF’s acting president Irshad Bhatti said that hosting the event will help Pakistan progress to the next round.
KARACHI:
In an attempt to bring international events back to the country, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has requested the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to allow them to host next year’s Fed Cup.
Placed in the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania group II, Pakistan participated in the event after a decade this year. PTF’s acting president Irshad Bhatti said that hosting the event will help Pakistan progress to the next round.
“We are taking inspiration from the Pakistan Football Federation,” Bhatti told The Express Tribune. “Fifa approved Lahore as venue for the World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh so we also requested the ITF to allow us to host the Fed Cup.”
