68,000 tickets issued to bikers

A punitive measure but to ensure a safe road environment in the capital

ISLAMABAD:

To maintain traffic discipline, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued as many as 68,525 traffic tickets to motorbikers this year who were driving without helmets. A police spokesperson said that the ITP had launched a vigorous campaign this year against bikers driving without helmets. SSP -Traffic Farrukh Rasheed urged parents not to allow their children to drive bikes or cars until they reach the legal age. He added that the force did not issue traffic violation tickets, not as a punitive measure but to ensure a safe road environment in the capital and secure the lives of commuters.
