An accountability court directed jail authorities on Thursday to produce accused Lala Fazlur Rehman before the court at the next hearing of a case pertaining to illegal land allotment in Clifton. The accused are likely to be indicted at the next hearing.

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairperson Mustafa Kamal and other accused appeared before the court. The defence lawyers maintained that Rehman had been arrested after his interim bail was withdrawn.

Directing jail authorities to produce Rehman in court at the next hearing, the court adjourned the hearing till September 26, when the accused are likely to be indicted.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Kamal said Karachi did not need an aid package and the premier should not give it any financial package.

Karachi needs to be given its rights, said Kamal.
