RAWALPINDI:

The deputation of an official in the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has created a rift in the Punjab bureaucracy. Punjab Local Government (LG) Secretary had refused to transfer Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) Planning Officer Shehzad Haider to RDA. In his reply to the letter sent by the RDA Director General (DG), the LG Secretary had cited that there was already a lack of officials in his institution. Hence, the request was turned down. However, the Punjab Chief Secretary on Tuesday issued a conflicting notification in which he ordered to transfer Haider to RDA as Director Metropolitan and Traffic Engineering which was a Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 19 post. The deputation has been done for three years. The related seat was lying vacant in the RDA as the former director Jamshed Aftab was demoted to OSD over corruption charges. However, no charge sheet has been produced against him so far.
