ISLAMABAD:

College and school students in the federal capital will now also get lessons on paying taxes and the tax culture.

In this regard, a special Letter of Understanding (LoU) was signed between the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad on Wednesday at the Federal Education Ministry. Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, Parliamentary Secretary on Education Wajija Akram Khan, FBR Chairman Javed Ghani, Federal Secretary Farah Hamid Khan, Additional Secretary Mohyuddin Wani, and senior officers of the FBR oversaw the ceremony where FDE Director General Zia Batool and FBR-FATE Chief Ayesha Farooq inked the document.

Mahmood stated that they aim to introduce such reforms through the syllabus for students and teachers which has never been witnessed in the country.

He hoped that through the LoU, tax culture and tax awareness will be promoted in all educational institutions managed by FDE and serve to define and detail the terms and conditions to foster a positive taxation culture amongst students and teachers.

This, he said, will be achieved through different sets of activities, skills and experiential learning for making them responsible citizens.
