Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that the government has agreed to charge five zero-rated industries the rate of 7.5 cents per kWh for July and August and nine cents per kWh thereafter.
In a tweet on Tuesday, he said the rate would be fixed at $6.5 per mmbtu for gas throughout.
The adviser detailed that the decision was taken in a meeting held between the finance, commerce and energy ministries.
“In wake of the situation created by Covid-19 pandemic, I feel that Ministry of Commerce has obtained a very good rate and now the exporters should concentrate on growth of our exports,” he wrote on Twitter.
The adviser also highlighted that a constructive meeting of American Business Council was held with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday where issues pertaining to Urdu labelling, pharmaceutical industry, mobile device manufacturing and transshipment of goods were discussed.
He added that these important matters would be examined with the relevant stakeholders to resolve them. APP
