Policeman injured in an attack

RAWALPINDI:

A police officer was injured when a police squad came under attack in the Dhama Sayedan area of Rawalpindi.

The Saddar Bairooni police station officials said on Monday that they had received reports of firing in the area. A squad was dispatched to the scene. As they approached the area, an unidentified armed suspect started firing at them. As a result, ASI Najibullah was injured.

Later, as the officers tried to arrest him, the suspect put the gun to his temple and threatened to pull the trigger if anyone came close to him. However, some officers tried to tackle him. While wrestling him to the ground, the suspect’s gun went off injuring him.

The suspect, who was later identified as Farrukh Ahmed, was booked under the anti-terrorism act, attempted murder, obstructing official work, resisting arrest and attempting suicide.
