SAPM on Climate Change takes notice of damaged civic facilities in Attock
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam on Monday took notice of dysfunctional civic facilities in his native Attock district. He directed the local Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to address the issues immediately.
After the recent rains, the drainage line in Aslam’s native village Shamsabad, Hazro had collapsed while filtration plants in Hassanabdal broke down after being clogged.
Aslam was told that a project to lay drainage line was executed by the Attock PHED and constructed by local contractors in Shamsabad from funds provided by the SAPM. Similarly, he inaugurated two filtration plants inaugurated in Hassanabdal.
The PHED officials said that the drainage line was damaged by flash floods caused by the recent rains. On the malfunctioning filtration plants, the officials said the plants were unsupervised due to some technical issues while the management committee comprising locals had refused to supervise its affairs after its inauguration despite agreeing to it previously.
The SAPM directed to repair the drainage line and make the company responsible for the installation and management of filtration plants for the next two years without any additional charges.
