MUZAFFARGARH:

A 15-year-old boy was severely injured in firing allegedly after the assailants’ attempt to rape him failed due to his resistance.

A case was registered in Baet Mir Hazar police station, Muzaffargarh.

The teenage boy was shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, where doctors said his condition was critical.

Mir Hazar police registered the case against three people on the complaint of the boy's father and arrested the main accused.

Ehsan Ahmad, son of Qamaruddin Qureshi, a resident of Mouza Bellewala, filed a written application at Baet Mir Hazar police station, stating that the accused asked his 15-year-old son to go with them to eat fish. The complainant said the accused, Omar Korai, Shafat Jhabil and Meena Korai, took the boy to the forest of Landi Pitafi where they tried to rape him. On resistance, the accused shot his son at a sensitive part of his body and fled the scene.

Police shifted the injured boy to Jatoi Hospital for treatment. He was later shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan due to his critical condition.

Mir Hazar police immediately arrested the main accused Meena Korai.

According to Muzaffargarh police spokesman Wasim Khan Gopang, on the instructions of District Police Officer Nadeem Abbas, a committee headed by the DSP of Jatoi area has been formed to arrest the other accused. He said the police team had been instructed to arrest the accused within 48 hours.

Ahsan Qureshi, father of the boy who is under treatment at Nishtar Hospital, told The Express Tribune that he is a poor man and sold rice from a cart. He said his injured son is a student of seventh grade. The accused took his son to the forest by deception and opened fire on him.
