Traffic diversion points announced for Ashura
Under the traffic arrangements finalised for the main Ashura procession route in the city, two SPs, six DSPs, 72 inspectors, 1,390 wardens and hundreds of women officials will perform duties on Sunday.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt (retd) Syed Hammad Abid said all office staff would also be deputed on roads for facilitating the citizens.
No vehicle will be allowed to enter the procession route from any artery.
The main procession starts from Nisar Haveli and concludes at Karbala Gamey Shah.
The participants may park their cars and motorcycles at Nasir Bagh, Mochi Gate Bagh, Data Darbar Eye Hospital, Central Model High School and Bengali Park along with Peer Makki in single lane.
Hammad directed traffic wardens to keep an eye on suspicious vehicles and persons while performing their duties. “Citizens can get any further information through Rasta app, radio FM 88.6 and police helpline 15.” Special parking lots have been arranged at seven points for participants.
Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes from different points during the procession. A large number of wardens will be deployed at the diversion points to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
