A man has lodged a case of fraud after his bride was taken away under suspicious circumstances while they were on the way home after their wedding.
Police started a search for the suspects after registering the case.
Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Bacheki, told the police that his wife had died two and a half years ago. He the accused Ziaur Rehman had suggested that he should marry again. When he agreed, Zia took Rs480,000 from him at different times for arranging his marriage and asked him to bring the barat for the ceremony. When he went to Sajanpura with the barat, the accused along with a woman demanded Rs38,000 more and then got him married. The accused sent the bride with him.
When their vehicle reached a petrol pump near Islampura, the bride, Shazia, daughter of Jamal Din, resident of Farooqabad, asked the driver to stop as she had to go to the washroom. When she came out from the car, two armed motorcyclists took her away with them.
The complainant alleged that Ziaur Rehman and Shazia Parveen had cheated him after taking three tolas of gold jewellery, including four bangles and two earrings, and money from him for the marriage.
