Muharram 8 procession ends peacefully in Capital

Police, district administration on toes for Ashura security

The main procession of the Zul Jannah, the horse decorated as the reflection of the steed of Imam Hussain, in the federal capital Islamabad was recovered from Imambargah Jamiatul Murtaza Sector G-9/4 in which hundreds of mourners participated.

The mourning procession went on its designated route from Jamia Al-Mulrtaz Sector G-9/4 at 1pm and culminated at Imambargah Sadiq Sector G-9/2.

All security arrangements were supervised by Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed. A total of 1,500 security personnel including Islamabad police, Rangers, Frontier Corps, Special Branch, Traffic Police and Bomb Disposal Squad performed security duties.

Mobile service partially remained suspended in some areas of sectors G-9 and G-10 while Bomb Disposal Squad conducted search of the procession's route through modern technology.

Tehreek-e-Nifaz Fiqh Jafaria leader Agha Hamid Moosavi while talking to the media during the procession said that evil elements in Pakistan want to increase sectarianism.

“No one should be imposed on anyone and we will not try to be imposed upon anyone,” he said.

Moosavi said that the people were innocent, they get easily manipulated by emotional words, the government needs to pay attention to elements misguiding the people.

Regarding following of the coronavirus SOPs he said that those who feel threatened by the disease should implement these restrictions, “we are not in danger.” The rulers themselves are not implementing these SOPs, he added.

Regarding the threat of sectarian violence, Moosvi said that Pakistan came into existence in the name of Islam. “The forces that do not want to see Pakistan develop cannot see us united.”

The incident of Karbala gives the message that believers should be pious. “We cannot meet find the path to Allah Almighty without a medium and the Holy Prophet is the medium.” He said that Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet, had strengthened Islam by making the sacrifices in the Karbala.

Rawalpindi police, on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) DIG Ahsan Younus have finalised security arrangements for Muharram 9 and 10

The main processions of the mourning month would be guarded by more than 6,980 security personnel and 800 volunteers.

According to a police spokesman, all available resources would be utilized to ensure strict security on Ashura.
