ISLAMABAD:

Housing and development authorities in the federal capital on Friday were directed to complete works on government housing societies at the earliest apart from ensuring the quality of these constructions.

This was stated by Federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz on Friday while chairing a high-level meeting to review progress made in different government housing societies.

Expressing concern over the poor quality of constructions and the difficulties being faced in completing societies, Shahbaz directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) and the PHA to avoid unnecessary delays in completing projects.

The FGEHA and the PHA were told to complete all formalities prescribed by regulators such as the CDA or any other authority before starting a new project.

Moreover, the FGEHA was directed to constitute committees of allottees in all government sectors to resolve construction, maintenance issues and their complaints.

He also directed the authorities to ensure hospitals and other healthcare facilities are built in the new sectors of the federal capital.

The ombudsperson directed CDA Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed to hand over possession of plots to allottees in Park Enclave-I and II at the earliest.

PHA Managing Director Tariq Rasheed told the meeting that of the 588 flats built in the Kuri road project, 272 have been handed over to the allottees. Noting that 60% of the work has been completed, he said that the remaining 366 apartments will be completed by September 15 and will be handed over to allottees in October.

In this regard, he said that all the necessary documentation and no-objection certificates (NOCs) have been obtained from the relevant departments. The PHA chief assured that apartments are being handed over to allottees after completely satisfying them on the standards of their construction.

Further, around 58% construction work on a multi-storey apartment complex in Sector I-12 housing 3,200 apartments has been completed, the PHA chief said. Moreover, he said that some 1,584 apartments in Sector I-16/3 will be handed over to the allottees by March next year.

The CDA chief said that access to the PHA apartments has been given through the Park Enclave project.
