Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir has said that timely provision of safety gears to prevent coronavirus infection should continue seamlessly to officials deputed for the provision of security during Muharram gatherings.

He directed the policemen to perform their duties on high alert to prevent any untoward incident. As per the direction of Additional IG Welfare and Finance, a letter regarding distribution of safety equipment was sent to the CCPO Lahore, City police officers and DPOs in which instructions were given regarding safety equipment.

According to the letter, during Muharram, safety equipment delivered to the districts include 13,300 gowns, 22,548 surgical face masks, 16,950 surgical gloves, 1,795 litres of sanitizer and 2,050 goggles.
