PESHAWAR:

A district and sessions court on Monday pronounced a unilateral decision on a defamation suit filed by the Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan against the provincial Labour and Culture Minister Shaukat Yousafzai.

The court in its order stated that Yousafzai had been issued several notices to either appear in person or through a legal representative to defend himself against the allegation. However, he failed to appear before the court.

The minister did not even send any representative in the hearing, it added.

Yousafzai had alleged that the ANP chief had taken $25 million from the US government as part of an agreement during the last ANP government to destabilise the Pashtun belt at the height of militancy.
