21 coronavirus cases reported in Islamabad

1,403 infections were recorded amongst people aged between 61 and 80

ISLAMABAD:

At least 21 new novel coronavirus cases were reported in the federal capital on Monday, as the curve of cases has started to show an upward trend again.

A report released by the Islamabad District Health Office (DHO) on Monday showed that the new cases were detected amongst 13 men and eight women. The DHO stated that the number of Covid-19 cases in Islamabad since March has reached 15,514, of which 14,642 people have recovered and 175 died.

The report further said that the people between the ages of 31 and 45 remain highly susceptible to the virus, accounting for 4,762 cases.

There were 3,209 infections amongst people aged between 21 and 30, followed by the 46 and 60 years-old age group with 3,014 patients.

Children between the ages of one and 10-years-old accounted for 1,475 infections, while some 1,177 people between the age of 11 to 20 years had contracted the virus, the report said.

Moreover, the report said that some 1,403 infections were recorded amongst people aged between 61 and 80, while only 111 people over the age of 81 had contracted the Covid-19.
