IMC, Pindi cantt join hands against dengue

Joint-action plan will be executed against the viral fever

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) and the Rawalpindi cantonment will collaborate in combating the menace of the dengue virus.

This was decided as the Rawalpindi Station Commander Brigadier Ijaz Kiani, along with his team, called on the IMC Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz on Monday.

Headquarters ADC Maham Asif Malik along with her team was present at the meeting along with IMC officials and the Health Services director-general.

Issues of mutual interest between the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi came under discussion. This included the implementation of the dengue action plan and other health-related challenges in the metropolitan and a joint-action plan.

Aziz explained the IMC’s mandate, jurisdiction and strategies to the station commander. He added that elected representatives of 50 Union Councils in the federal capital are ready to work on the plan at the grass-root level.

He further expressed the desire for regular, mutual cooperation between the two organizations.

Brig Kiani, while sharing his experience of Rawalpindi, appreciated the efforts of IMC and expressed the desire for team spirit between the two cities to tackle challenges of immense enormity.
