Masses urged to get tetanus shots
Governor of Balochistan Amanullah Yasinzai urged masses to get vaccinated against tetanus. “The health and development of children is conditional on the health of the mother. Hence, a course of immunisations is essential to protect women and children from fatal diseases like tetanus.” He expressed these views while inaugurating the third round of anti-convulsion campaign across the province on Monday. Provincial Health Secretary Dostain Jamaluddin, Provincial Coordinator Program for Immunisation Dr Ishaq Panezai, Immunisation Officer United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Dr Aurangzeb Kamal, DHO Dr Ahmad Zaman and Dr Rehmatullah Kakar were also present in the inaugurating ceremony of six day anti-tetanus campaign. “The role of media is very important in raising social awareness among masses against crippling viruses like tetanus and polio. The cooperation of international organisations against tetanus would have a positive impact and full participation of the people would ensure success of the government’s campaign.”
