Cholistan broadcast seeding carried out
Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies (CIDS) organised a seed broadcast activity in the Cholistan desert during the recent rains under the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign. IUB Vice Chancellor Dr Athar Mahboob said that the main objective of the activity was to restore the indigenous flora of Cholistan desert. Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor said, “Migratory birds feed on desert insects and plants but due to overgrazing, drought, overexploitation of vegetation for fuel, timber and medicinal purposes, Cholistan desert is losing its biodiversity.”
